Elections in August

Kenyans will go to the polls in August this year and fierce contests are expected in the race for the presidency. Elections in Kenya will be closely watched as the results will influence well beyond the country’s borders since it’s the transport and commercial hub of the entire East African region.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is currently in the process of compiling the total number of voters registered to participate in the General Election in August.

Initial results from the Commission indicated an estimated 19.7 million voters registered, with areas such as Rift Valley, Eastern and Central regions accounting for the biggest number of registered voters in the country.
