New Cape Town Museum

The brand new Cape Town Museum, which will be located in the old Standard Bank building in Adderley Street, will open its doors to the public later this year. This 1880s heritage building was known to many as the “Queen of Adderley Street” and has now been given a contemporary purpose that reflects the diversity of the City and its heritage.

The Cape Town Museum is a new-generation heritage institution that will provide innovative ways for people to interact. It will also become a key access point for residents to get an overview of the history and development of their city. The museum’s goal is to reflect the diverse heritage of all the people of Cape Town. It will also act as a reliable introduction for newcomers to Cape Town.

The museum will be hosting permanent exhibitions on the history and development of the city from the earliest times. Visitors can also expect to see exhibitions on contemporary Cape Town, and on the Cape Town of the future. An official opening date for the museum is still to be announced.
